Tucked away at the far end of Aigburth in South Liverpool is Otterspool Adventure Playground - a huge, open-air family play area overlooking the River Mersey.
Packed with climbing frames, massive bouncy pillows, a go-kart track, mini-golf, and even a little water ride, there are also regular themed events which include shows, little parades and character meet-and-greets, which are fab for kids - we went during a Matilda-themed weekend and Oli was starstruck meeting The Trunchbull.
The weather was a little overcast, and there isn't much to do indoors so be aware of the weather forecast before setting off - however but the activities outside more than make up for the lack of inside attractions. Oli enjoyed bouncing on the giant blow-up bounce floors, the little water-ride, and the ride-on jeeps - though she didn't particularly love the mini golf as she found it a bit tricky and she's rather impatient! However this would be great for slightly older children.
The large café had some of the most scrumptious-looking cakes I've ever seen and made a really good coffee - essential after spending the morning running after a very energetic and happy little lady!

Admission is around £16 per child and £8 per adult, and members get in for free. Note that parking is along the road (a very quiet road though!) and its not permitted to take your own food into the park.
We stopped at Backford Belles ice-cream on our way home, and Oli still had enough energy to enjoy a little play on the climbing frame, then wander round looking at the cows as we ate our delicious ice-cream.
