Sometimes Nothing Happens

Recently, because of life getting in the way, and the weather being incredibly unpredictable, we've not really done much at the weekends except stay near home and play together.

And you know what, that's okay. I'm guilty, myself, of thinking that I always have to be 'on', doing things, and "making memories"TM as a family. But sometimes the best weekends are the ones where we're not rushing around, packing picnics, or sitting in traffic. They're the ones where the front room looks like a tip with every single game and toy scattered about the floor; where cushions are pulled from the sofa and used to create stepping-stones over the 'lava'; the dressing-up box is raided and we sing 'Let It Go' on an endless loop.

We have a couple of lovely parks and open spaces nearby, so we do try to leave these four walls at least once each day, and Olivia loves running down the hill and climbing the trees in the fields at the top of our road, finishing up with an ice-cream from the corner shop.

Just because we're not doing things that look insta-perfect, or are completely unique or trend-setting doesn't mean that we're not having fun together - or, yes, "making memories"TM.

What are your favourite things to do on a quiet weekend?
